In June 2012, the Fair Work Commission and the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) held a regional conference and training course in Melbourne. Employment judges and arbitrators from the Asia and Pacific region attended the two day conference on 17 and 18 June.
A four-day training course on International Labour Standards for Judges and Arbitrators in the Asia and Pacific Region followed on from the conference.
The program was organised and opened by Deputy President Hamilton and Dr Tzehainesh Teklè of the ITC-ILO. Justice Iain Ross hosted the delegates in a tour of Fair Work Australia (now the Fair Work Commission), where they met a number of members.
Conference delegates came from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vanuatu, and Vietnam. The Commission sponsored a number of the international participants.
