3. TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT AND TERMINATION
(a) With the exception of casual employees, employment shall be by the week.
(b) The employer shall inform each employee of the terms of engagement, in particular whether he/she is a continuing full time/part-time and casual employee and whether he/she will be required for roster work. An employer shall also inform each employee of the regular hours of employment, classification under this award and the relevant rate of pay.
(c) An employer may direct an employee to carry out such duties as are within the limits of an employee's skill, competence and training.
This provision shall not deny such an employee any award entitlement, which might be applicable for performing work of a higher classification; nor shall the provision enable the employer to pay an employee at a rate lower than the substantive classification for performing work of a lower classification.
(d) The employment of an employee will not be terminated except for misconduct which would justify instant dismissal, without the appropriate notice being given by the employer to the employee, and the employee shall likewise give to the employer the appropriate notice of his or her intention to terminate his or her employment.
