A system of shift work may be implemented where necessary to meet operational requirements.
Providing:
(a) A shift allowance of at least 15% shall be paid on all hours worked on all shifts where any part of the shift is outside the span of normal hours.
(b) An employee on a continuous night shift roster shall be paid a loading of at least 25% on all hours worked.
Continuous night shift roster means the employee is rostered for night shifts only for any period in excess of four weeks. A night shift is a shift that finishes after midnight.
(c) Shift work hours on weekends and public holidays shall be paid loadings as follows (in lieu of loadings above):
Saturday at least 50%
Sunday at least 100%
Public Holidays 150%
Where Christmas Day or Boxing Day fall on a weekend, the public holiday loading shall be paid for both the actual day and the Public Holiday.
(d) Shifts shall not be longer than 10 hours.
(e) Where shifts are longer than 8 hours, an employee shall not be rostered for more than four shifts per week.
(f) All Overtime shall be paid at double time
An employee who works an overtime shift on a weekend or public holiday shall be paid an additional 100% loading.
Overtime shift includes situation where:
A shift is worked in addition to or in excess of full time shift roster;
An employee works without at least a 12 break between shifts;
An employee works without at least four clear days off in each two week period.
