11.1 A casual means a person who is employed temporarily by the day or half day upon work of a kind similar to that usually done by members of classified staffs as part of their duty.
11.2 The minimum rates of payment for casual work shall, except as otherwise provided, be the following percentages of the appropriate grade 3 rate prescribed in clause 14 Minimum rates of payment, of this award with the addition of 20 per cent as compensation for exclusion from the provisions of clauses 22 Annual leave, and 24.3 of this award:
20 per cent for a day of eight hours;
12.5 per cent for a half day of four hours.
11.3 Casuals shall receive shift penalties in accordance with the provisions of clause 21 Shift penalties, if any part of their shifts fall within the times set out in that clause.
11.4 The additional amounts provided in subclause 11.3 are not cumulative and, where any casual work attracts both amounts, the greater amount only shall be paid.
11.5 In calculating a payment under this subclause, amounts up to and including five cents shall be disregarded and amounts over five cents shall count as ten cents.
11.6 Calculation of time worked shall be in accordance with clause 17 Hours of work, of this award.
11.7 If the time worked exceeds four hours and is less than eight hours, a full day's pay shall be paid. If the time worked is in excess of eight hours in any one day, such excess time shall be paid for as follows:
for the first two hours at the rate of time and a half, thereafter at the rate of double time.
11.8 A casual shall not be paid otherwise than by the day or half day.
