CLAUSE 1.7 DEFINITIONS

1.7.1 Act means the Fair Work Act 1994.
1.7.2 Casual employee means an employee as defined in clause 4.4.1.
1.7.3 Casual hourly rate means the hourly rate as defined in Schedule 1 for the work performed plus 20 per centum.
1.7.4 Commission means the Industrial Relations Commission of South Australia.
1.7.5 Continuous service means service as defined in clause 1.8.
1.7.6 Part-time employee means an employee as defined in clause 4.3.1
1.7.7 Social and community services means work designed to aid individuals, groups or communities to attain satisfying standards of life and health through activities that improve personal and social relationships. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, social and community services will include:-
(a) Information collection and provision related to benefits and services and community resources available to clients;
(b) Supportive and/or crisis counselling;
(c) Emergency material relief for persons suffering financial hardship;
(d) Custodial or Supportive care and social welfare support for people in residential accommodation, day and occasional care facilities and/or settings or who are unable to live independently, or who are not living in a family setting, but not including nursing and/or medical services;
(e) Assessment of individual, family, group or community needs;
(f) Development, implementation and assessment and or maintenance of individual casework programmes;
(g) Referral and liaison with other workers and professionals, agencies, community groups, organisations or governments;
(h) Co-ordination of activities and/or facilities for the development of independent living skills and/or social skills;
(i) Research and analysis of social, welfare and/or community issues, needs or problems;
(j) Development and maintenance of community resources.
(k) Community campaign development and organisation;
(l) Development, maintenance implementation and evaluation of a family, group and community programme(s);
(m) Social welfare or community planning, policy development, interpretation and/or implementation;
(n) Representation, advocacy, negotiation and mediation within and between communities, agencies, institutions, and governments, or with individuals;
(o) Counselling and/or social welfare support for people living at home who are unable to live independently, not including nursing or medical services;
(p) Development and transfer of skills and knowledge in community organisation, community education, advocacy, resource development, cultural awareness and other relevant areas within the community;
(q) Tasks associated with the maintenance of community services and social welfare projects including the preparation of submissions and reports and any incidental financial documentation.
1.7.8 Spouse includes a de facto spouse but, except in relation to parental leave, does not include a spouse from whom the employee is legally separated.
1.7.9 Union means the Amalgamated ASU (SA) State Union.
1.7.10 Week’s pay means the rate of pay defined in clause 4.7.1.
