CLAUSE 6.6 MEAL BREAKS

6.6.1 An employee must not be required to work for more than five hours without a break for a meal.
6.6.2 Up to one hour will be allowed to each employee for lunch on each day Mondays to Fridays between 12 noon and 2.00 p.m. Other arrangements may be agreed between the employer and the employee, but not less than one half hour will be observed.
6.6.3 An employee required to work during a meal break and continuously thereafter will be paid at the rate of time and a half in addition to any penalty rate applying for the time so worked until released from duty for a meal break.
6.6.4 Despite 6.6.3, if an employee is required by the employer to have a meal with a client or clients as part of the normal work routine or client program he/she will be paid for the duration of the meal period at the ordinary rate of pay.
An employee may elect to take an unpaid meal break as prescribed in clause 6.6.2 after the meal period. If the employee so elects not to have a meal break, all ordinary hours after the meal period will be paid at the ordinary rate of pay.
