16.1 Notice of termination by employer
16.1.1 In order to terminate the employment of a full-time or part-time employee, the Company must give the employee the period of notice specified in the table below:

16.1.2 In addition to this notice, employees over 45 years of age at the time of the giving of the notice with not less than two year's continuous service, are entitled to an additional week's notice.
16.1.3 Payment in lieu of notice must be made if the appropriate notice period is not given. Employment may be terminated by the employee working part of the required period of notice and by the Company making payment for the remainder of the period of notice.
16.1.4 In calculating any payment in lieu of notice, the wages an employee would have received in respect of the ordinary time they would have worked during the period of notice had their employment not been terminated will be used.
16.1.5 The period of notice in this clause will not apply for conduct that justifies instant dismissal and in the case of casual employees, apprentices or employees engaged for a specific period of time or for a specific task or tasks.
16.1.6 Notice of termination by employee
The notice of termination to be given by an employee will be the same as that required of the Company, except that there is no additional notice based on the age of the employee concerned. If an employee fails to give notice the Company may withhold moneys due to the employee to a maximum amount equal to the ordinary time rate of pay for the period of notice.
16.1.7 Time off during notice period
If the Company has given notice to an employee, the employee must be allowed up to one day's time off without loss of pay for the purpose of seeking other employment. The time off must be taken at times that are convenient to the employee after consultation with the Company.
16.2 Employee must continue work during notice period
16.2.1 If an employee has given or been given notice of termination, the employee must continue in his or her employment until the end of the notice period.
16.2.2 If an employee is absent from work during the notice period, the employee must prove to the Company that there was reasonable cause for the absence.
16.2.3 If an employee is absent from work during the notice period without reasonable cause, the employee is deemed to have abandoned his or her employment and is not entitled to payment for work performed by the employee during the notice period.
