5.5 SUPERANNUATION

 
Note: The Superannuation Legislation Amendment (Choice of Superannuation Funds) Act 2005 provides that individual employees generally have the opportunity to choose their own superannuation funds. The Movement must pay the sum of 6% of ordinary time earnings of each employee into an approved superannuation fund, according to the following provisions:

5.5.1 Definition

The Fund means the Statewide Superannuation Trust.

5.5.2 The Movement to become party to the Fund

5.5.2(a) the Movement must sign and execute an application to become a participating employer of the Fund;

5.5.2(b) When Trustees of the Fund have accepted the Movement’s application, the Movement must become party to the Fund.

5.5.2(c) The Movement must provide a membership application form for the Fund to every employee who is not already a member of the fund, upon commencement of service or upon commencement of this clause. Each employee must complete the application and forward it to the Council at the end of the first calendar month of commencement of service.

5.5.2(d) the Movement must make contributions in accordance with subclause 5.5.4.

5.5.3 Eligibility of Employees

5.5.3(a) All employees are eligible to join the Fund upon commencement of employment or upon commencement of this clause.

5.5.3(b) Contributions in accordance with subclause 5.5.4 must be made from the date when the employee becomes eligible for membership, regardless of the date upon which the employee signs a membership application .

5.5.4 Contributions

5.5.4(a) Full time employees

The Movement must pay contributions for full-time employees at the rate of 6% of ordinary time earnings. Such contributions must be made at the completion of each calendar month in respect of completed weeks of membership of the Fund.

5.5.4(b) Part time employees

Contributions for part time employees must be made at the end of each calendar month calculated at 6% of ordinary time earnings earned during the month.

5.5.4(c) Leave without pay

When an employee is on leave without pay (whether continuous or not) for one or more complete days from the calendar month, then pro-rata deduction for the period of leave without pay must be made from the monthly contribution as set out in subclause 5.5.4(a).

5.5.4(d) Leave with pay

Contributions must continue during periods of paid leave.
