29. MEAL BREAKS

29.1 Unless otherwise agreed between the employer and employee, a 30 minutes meal break will be allowed to employees on each working day.

29.2 Such meal break will begin at noon or at some other regular time mutually agreed upon, but in special circumstances the employer may require it to begin at some definite time not earlier than 11.30am nor later than 1.30pm.

29.3 Any employee required to work throughout more than five hours during their normal working day without a suitable interval for a meal will, for all time worked continuously in excess of such five hours, be paid at the rate of time and a half for the first two hours and double time thereafter.

29.4 If the prescribed meal break of an employee is curtailed by the employer, the employee will from the time of curtailment be paid at the rate of time and a half for the first two hours and double time thereafter, until the full meal break is allowed.
