(a) The long service leave or payment in lieu thereof to which an employee is entitled shall be that prescribed by this clause.
(b) Subject to subclause (d) hereof, the amount of long service leave or payment in lieu thereof to which an employee shall be entitled shall be:
(i) in the case of an employee who has completed continuous service for a qualifying period of at least fifteen years:
(A) in respect of fifteen years' service so completed, thirteen weeks, and
(B) in respect of continuous service for each qualifying period of ten years completed since the employee last became entitled to long service leave, eight and two-third weeks, and
(C) on the termination of the employee's service or death, in respect of continuous service for a qualifying period of that number of years completed since the employee last became entitled to an amount of long service leave, a proportionate amount on the basis of thirteen weeks for fifteen years' service.
(ii) in the case of an employee who has completed continuous service for a qualifying period of at least ten but less than fifteen years and whose name is removed from Register "A" in accordance with the engagement system:
(A) as a consequence of a reduction in the registered strength or as a result of illness, incapacity or disability rendering the employee unfit for service at sea; or
(B) at the request of the employee; or
(C) in consequence of the death of the employee;
payment of a proportionate amount on the basis of thirteen weeks for fifteen years' service.
(c) Such leave shall be granted and taken and, except as by this award permitted, payment in lieu thereof shall not be made or accepted. No employee shall during any period when he is on leave pursuant to this award engage in any employment for hire or reward.
(d) In the case of an employee whose continuous service began before 11 May 1964 and whose service would entitle the employee to long service leave under this clause, the amount of long service leave to which such an employee shall be entitled shall be the sum of the following amounts:
(i) an amount calculated on the basis of thirteen weeks for twenty year's service in respect of the period of the employee's service before 11 May 1964;
(ii) an amount calculated on the basis of thirteen weeks for fifteen years' service in respect of the period of the employee's service on and from 11 May 1964.
