15. CLASSIFICATIONS AND WAGE RATES

15.1 Classifications

15.1.1 Probationer, Trainee

A person entering the industry with no previous experience who has yet to apply for a licence.

15.1.2 Provisionally licensed

15.1.2(a) Fumigator: A person who has applied for a class 3 licence pursuant to the Pest Control Operators Regulations but has yet to be examined or licensed other than provisionally and is presently undertaking an accredited course to obtain a pest operators certificate.

15.1.2(b) Pest Control Technician: A person who has applied for a class 2 licence pursuant to the Pest Control Operators Regulations but has yet to be examined and licensed other than provisionally and is presently undertaking an accredited course to obtain a pest operators certificate.

15.1.3 Licensed employees

15.1.3(a) Licensed Fumigator

A person who has successfully obtained a pest operators certificate and passed the Health Department Victoria Fumigation examination and has in consequence been granted a class 3 licence pursuant to the Pest Control Operators Regulations.

15.1.3(b) Licensed Pest Control Technician

A person who has successfully obtained a pest operators certificate and has passed the Health Department Victoria Pest Control License exam and has in consequence been granted a class 2 licence pursuant to the Pest Control Operators Regulations.

15.1.3(c) Licensed Pest Control Technician and Fumigator.

A person who has successfully obtained a pest operators certificate and passed Health Department Victoria exams in both pest control and fumigation and has in consequence been granted with a class 2 and class 3 licence pursuant to the Pest Control Operators Regulations.

15.2 Incidental duties

Employees within each classification are to perform a wider range of duties including work which is incidental to or peripheral to their main tasks or functions.

NOTE: An employee on engagement shall be advised of his/her classification.

15.3.1 Wage rates shall be calculated to the nearest 10 cents, less than 5 cents in a result to be disregarded.

15.4 Arbitrated safety net adjustment

15.4.1 The rates of pay in this award include the arbitrated safety net adjustment payable under the Safety Net Review - Wages June 2005 decision [Print PR002005]. This arbitrated safety net may be offset against any equivalent amount in rates of pay received by employees whose wages and conditions of employment are regulated by this award which are above the wage rates prescribed in the award. Such above award payments include wages payable pursuant to certified agreements, currently operating enterprise flexibility agreements, Australian workplace agreements, award variations to give effect to enterprise agreements and overaward arrangements. Absorption which is contrary to the terms of an agreement is not required.

15.4.2 Increases made under previous National Wage Case principles or under the current Statement of Principles excepting those resulting from enterprise agreements, are not to be used to offset arbitrated safety net adjustments.
