19.1 Transfer to existing shift rosters
Forty-eight hours’ notice of any change of shift will be given to an employee, in default of which overtime rates will be paid for work done outside the ordinary shift hours during the forty-eight hours following notification.
19.2 Transfer of day worker to or from shift work
An employee on day work, will be given at least ten hours off duty immediately before commencing, or after ceasing shift work, may be transferred to, or from, shift work on forty-eight hours notice. In default of such notice the employee will be paid overtime rates for all work done outside the previous ordinary working hours during the forty-eight hours following notification.
19.3 Transfer of day worker to replace shift worker
This clause will not apply, where it is necessary to transfer a day worker to replace a shift worker who fails to report for duty, or who for any reason, is unable to continue duties, but the position will be covered by 19.1 hereof.
19.4 Variation of rosters
To suit the circumstances of the establishment, the method of working shifts, and the time of commencing and finishing shifts, once having been determined, may be varied by agreement between the employer and the accredited representative of the union or, in the absence of agreement, by seven days’ notice of alteration given by the employer to the employee.
19.5 Rate when shifts extend beyond midnight
Notwithstanding anything contained herein, each shift will be paid at the rate applicable to the day on which the major portion of the shift is worked.
19.6 Work on a rostered day-off
A shift worker will be paid at the rate of double time for all work performed on a rostered day-off with a minimum payment of four hours work.
The provision of a minimum payment will not apply where the work on that day is continuous with the commencement, or completion, of the employee’s ordinary shift.
