26A. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

26A.1Paid leave entitlement

26A.1.1 The provisions of this clause apply to full-time and part-time teachers (on a pro rata basis) but do not apply to emergency teachers.

26A.1.2 A full-time teacher is use up to three days bereavement leave on each occasion on which a member of the teacher’s immediate family or household in Australia dies.

26A.2Unpaid leave entitlement

Where a teacher has exhausted all bereavement leave entitlements, including accumulated leave entitlements, the teacher is entitled to take unpaid bereavement leave. The employer and the teacher should agree on the period of unpaid leave. In the absence of agreement, the teacher is entitled to take up to three days of unpaid leave.

26A.3Evidence supporting claim

The employer may require the teacher to provide satisfactory evidence of the death of a member of the teacher’s immediate family or household.
