23.1 Where an employee is required by his or her employer to use a motor vehicle in the performance of his or her duties, the employer shall reimburse the employee the cost of insuring the motor vehicle, maintaining the vehicle, petrol and other associated expenses. The provisions of this clause do not apply where the motor vehicle is supplied to the employee at the employer’s expense and is fully maintained and insured by the employer.
23.2 Where an employee by arrangement with the employer provides a motor vehicle, the employee shall in addition to all payments made to him or her in accordance with his or her contract of employment, be paid the following minimum allowances.
23.2.1 Local employee

23.2.1(a) For motor vehicles up to and including 2000ccs a standing charge allowance of $249.07 per week plus a weekly amount calculated at the rate of 27.59 cents per kilometre for the actual distance travelled by his or her vehicle each week in connection with his or her employment.

23.2.1(b) For motor vehicles over 2000ccs a standing charge allowance of $276.00 per week plus a weekly amount calculated at the rate of 30.05 cents per kilometre for the actual distance travelled by his or her motor vehicle each week in connection with his or her employment.
23.2.2 Country traveller

23.2.2(a) For motor vehicles up to and including 2000ccs a standing charge allowance of $259.34 per week plus a weekly amount calculated at the rate of 27.59 cents per kilometre for the actual distance travelled by his or her vehicle each week in connection with his or her employment.

23.2.2(b) For motor vehicles over 2000ccs a standing charge allowance of 278.67 per week plus a weekly amount calculated at the rate of 30.05 cents per kilometre for the actual distance travelled by his or her motor vehicle each week in connection with his or her employment.
23.2.3 For the purposes of 23.2.1 and 23.2.2, distance travelled to and from the place where the vehicle customarily is housed shall be deemed to be actual mileage travelled by the vehicle in connection with the employee's employment.
23.2.4 An employee having, by arrangement with their employer, provided a vehicle for use in connection with their employment shall be given at least four weeks' written notice of the employer's intention to terminate or alter such arrangement or in lieu thereof shall be paid the appropriate standing charge allowance for a period of four weeks.
23.2.5 The standing charge care allowance prescribed in 23.2.1 and 23.2.2, shall be paid during each week of the calendar year except in respect of periods as follows:
23.2.5(a) When the employee is absent from duty otherwise than in accordance with the provisions of this award and without the consent of the employer;
23.2.5(b) In excess of three consecutive weeks when the vehicle is unavailable due to accident or mechanical defect; or
23.2.5(c) In excess of a total of three complete weeks in any one year when the employee is unable to work on account of personal illness or incapacity; provided that any period of less than one complete week shall not be taken into account for the purpose of this paragraph.
23.2.6 Where the employer terminates the employment of an employee who has provided a motor vehicle for use in connection with his or her employment, by payment in lieu of notice, or in circumstances where the employer is required to pay salary in lieu of notice, the standing charge allowance applying to the motor vehicle provided by the employee shall also be paid for the same period for which salary is paid or is required to be paid in lieu of notice.
23.2.7 An employee, who at the time of his or her application for employment neither owned nor was in the process of acquiring the ownership in a motor vehicle by hire - purchase or otherwise; and who informed the employer of that fact prior to his or her engagement; was thereafter engaged in terms requiring him or her to provide a motor vehicle for use in his or her employment; and did provide such motor vehicle; shall be guaranteed a minimum of thirteen weeks' employment.
23.2.7(a) If the employer dismisses him or her, otherwise than for conduct justifying summary dismissal, the employer shall pay the employee at the minimum rate of remuneration prescribed by clause 18 - Classifications and wage rates for the unexpired portion of the period of thirteen weeks and also shall pay him or her the standing charge allowance prescribed by this clause in respect of such unexpired portion.

23.2.8 Where an employee is directed to provide a station wagon or similar vehicle not being a standard sedan car; or to tow a trailer or caravan; he or she shall be paid an amount of $11.13 (Local Traveller) or $12.63 (Country Traveller) per week for each week of use in addition to the appropriate allowance prescribed in subclauses 23.2.1 and 23.2.2.
23.3 Local and country wholesale merchandisers
23.3.1 A local or country wholesale merchandiser when employed on a full-time basis who by arrangement with his or her employer provides a motor vehicle shall in addition to all payments made in accordance with his or her contract of employment be paid a minimum locomotion allowance equal to that required to be paid to a local traveller in accordance with this clause.

23.3.2 A part-time or casual, local or country wholesale merchandiser shall be paid for the use of his or her motor vehicle an amount of 66.12 cents per kilometre travelled in the course of his or her employment.
23.4 Standing charge air-conditioning allowance

Where an employee by arrangement with his or her employer provides a motor vehicle and that vehicle is fitted with an air-conditioning unit, the traveller shall be paid an allowance of $2.52 per week in addition to all payments made to him or her in accordance with his or her contract of employment. The provisions of 23.2.1 and 23.2.2 relating to standing charge care allowance shall have equal application to the allowance provided by this subclause.
23.5 Dry cleaning and laundry allowance

An employee working in a motor vehicle not fitted with an air-conditioning unit shall be paid a dry cleaning and laundry allowance of $5.74 per week, in addition to all payments made to him or her in accordance with his or her contract of employment.
