29.1 An employee, other than a casual employee, shall be entitled to up to three days bereavement leave without deduction of pay on each occasion of the death of a person as prescribed in 29.3. Where the death of a relative named herein occurs outside Australia and the employee does not attend the funeral, he/she shall be entitled to one day only, unless he/she can demonstrate to his/her employer that additional time up to a period of three days is justified.
29.2 The employee must notify the employer as soon as practicable of the intention to take bereavement leave and will, if required by the employer, provide to the satisfaction of the employer proof of death, together with proof of attendance in the case of a funeral outside of Australia.
29.3 Bereavement leave shall be available to the employee in respect to the death of a person prescribed for the purposes of personal/carer's leave as set out in 30.1.3(b), provided that, for the purpose of bereavement leave, the employee need not have been responsible for the care of the person concerned.
29.4 An employee shall not be entitled to bereavement leave under this clause during any period in respect of which the employee has been granted other leave.
