Where by virtue of the arrangement of ordinary working hours an employee is entitled to a rostered day off the following provisions shall apply unless otherwise agreed in accordance with clause 11 - Consultative mechanisms and procedures in the workplace.
An employee shall be advised by the employer at least four weeks in advance of the day the employee is to take off by written notice posted by the employer on the noticeboard. Where practicable the rostered day off shall be either a Monday or Friday during the four week cycle.
26.2 Payment for rostered days off
26.2.1 Where it is agreed that a system of averaging shall apply for every ordinary hour paid for, the company shall withhold payment of 1/12th (five per cent) of the employee’s hourly rate (weekly rate divided by 38) which will be paid in the pay week in which the employee’s rostered day off is taken.
26.2.2 For all ordinary hours worked, where any allowance or penalty prescribed by this award is expressed as a percentage or multiple of the ordinary rate, the ordinary rate for an eight hour day or shift shall equal the weekly rate divided by five.
26.3.1 An employer and the majority of employees may by agreement substitute the day the employee or employees concerned are to take off during a work cycle for another day.
26.3.2 An apprentice who is required to attend trade school on a rostered day off shall be entitled to a substitute day as soon as practicable following the attendance at trade school.
26.4 Work on a rostered day off
Unless a rostered day off is substituted for another day off in accordance with clauses 34.3 and 34.5 work performed on the rostered day off will be paid in accordance with clause 27 - Overtime, day workers, Saturday, Sunday and holiday payments, of this award.
26.5 Banking rostered days off
By agreement between the employer and an employee, rostered days off may be accumulated (banked) up to a maximum of five days and shall be taken in a manner agreed upon between the employer and the employee prior to the first of such days accumulating.
26.6 Rostered day off not to coincide with holiday
A rostered day off shall not coincide with a holiday fixed in accordance with clause 37 - Public holidays.
