28. UNIFORMS AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
28.1 Where the employer requires an employee to wear any special clothing such as coats, dresses, caps, aprons, cuffs and any other articles of clothing, the employer must reimburse the employee for the cost of purchasing such special clothing. The provisions of this clause do not apply where the special clothing is paid for by the employer.
28.2 Where the employee is responsible for laundering the special clothing the employer must reimburse the employee for the demonstrated costs of laundering it or pay the employee an agreed sum of money for the cost of laundering it.
28.3 Where it is necessary that an employee wear waterproof or other protective clothing such as waterproof boots, aprons, or gloves, the employer must reimburse the employee for the cost of purchasing such clothing. The provisions of this clause do not apply where the special clothing is supplied to the employee at the employer's expense. Where protective clothing is supplied without cost to the employee, it will remain the property of the employer
28.4 Nothing in this clause shall require an employer to supply an employee with an ordinary dress or suit of dark material and white shirt, or to supply a grocery assistant with a white coat, a black coat or an apron.
