4. DEFINITIONS

For the purposes of the award the following terms and meanings will apply:

4.1 Organisations

4.1.1 Company or MPL shall mean Medibank Private Limited.

4.1.2 CPSU shall mean CPSU, the Community and Public Sector Union.

4.2 Parties

4.2.1 Employer shall mean Medibank Private Limited.

4.2.2 Union shall mean CPSU, The Community and Public Sector Union.

4.3 Employment and work arrangements

4.3.1 AIRC shall mean the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

4.3.2 CSOIT or CSO shall mean a person classified as a Customer Service Officer in Training or Customer Service Officer.

4.3.3 Casual Employee shall mean and employee who is engaged by the hour and paid as such.

4.3.4 Employee shall mean an employee appointed or engaged on a permanent, fixed-term or casual basis.

4.3.5 Employee representative shall mean CPSU, the Community and Public Sector Union and other employee representatives capable of representing the industrial interests of the employee/s concerned.

4.3.6 Flextime shall mean a system of flexible working hours which allows employees to vary hours of work within the normal span of hours subject to the provisions of an agreed scheme.

4.3.7 Full-time employee shall mean an employee whose ordinary weekly hours of duty are as specified under clause 19 – Ordinary hours of duty.

4.3.8 Managing Director shall mean the Managing director of Medibank Private Limited, or their delegate where appropriate.

4.3.9 Part-time employee shall mean an employee whose hours of duty are less than full-time hours.

4.3.10 Permanent employee shall mean an employee appointed or engaged on an ongoing basis either full-time or part-time.
