20.1 Wages must be paid weekly or fortnightly, either:
20.1.1 according to the actual ordinary hours worked each week or fortnight; or
20.1.2 according to the average number of ordinary hours worked each week or fortnight.
20.2 The Company and a majority of employees may agree for wages to be paid monthly.
20.3 Method of payment
Wages must be paid by electronic funds transfer into the employee’s bank or approved credit union account.
20.4 Payment of wages on termination of employment
On termination of employment, wages due to an employee must be paid 48 hours after clearance, the Company and the employee may agree that the wages will be paid on the normal pay day. Clearance of employment procedures should normally be completed no later than one week following an employee’s termination.
20.5 Pay day may be varied by the Company if seven days notice is given to the employee.
20.6 The Company is not required to make overtime shift work and other extraneous payments until the pay period following that in which the payments were earned.
20.7 Absences from duty under an averaging system
If an employee’s ordinary hours in a week are greater or less than 38 hours and the employee’s pay is averaged to avoid fluctuating wage payments, the following shall apply:
20.7.1 The employee will accrue a “credit” for each day he or she works ordinary hours in excess of the daily average.
20.7.2 The employee will not accrue a “credit” for each day of absence from duty other than on annual leave, long service leave, public holidays, paid sick leave, workers’ compensation, paid bereavement leave, paid carer’s leave, paid training leave or jury service.
20.7.3 An employee absent for part of a day (other than on annual leave, long service leave, public holidays, paid sick leave, workers’ compensation, paid bereavement leave, paid carer’s leave, paid training leave or jury service shall accrue a proportion of the “credit” for the day, based upon the proportion of the working day that the employee was in attendance.
20.8 Calculation of working time
Despite anything contained elsewhere in this award, the Company may use any fractional or decimal proportion of an hour (not exceeding six minutes or 0.1 of an hour) and apply the proportion to calculate the working time of employees who are late when reporting for duty or who stop work before the appointed working time without reasonable cause which has been promptly communicated to the Company. Any proportion adopted must also be applied by the Company to calculate overtime worked.
