10. CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT

10.1 An employee shall on or prior to commencing employment, be provided by the Employer with a written statement outlining the employee’s employment category, which shall be either:

10.2 Employment category - definitions

10.2.1 Full-time employee means an employee engaged by the week who is rostered to work the ordinary hours prescribed by the hours clause of this award.

10.2.2 Part-time employee means an employee engaged by the week who is required to work a number of ordinary hours each week less than the ordinary number of hours prescribed for full-time employees. Part-time employees have an entitlement to authorised leave on the same proportion as the hours per week represent as a percentage of than the ordinary number of hours prescribed for full-time employees.

10.2.3 Casual employee means an employee engaged and paid as such. Each engagement shall stand alone and shall be regarded as a separate hiring. A casual employee may not be employed on a regular basis for a period greater than six months.

10.2.4 Specific task/period employee means an employee engaged as such for a specified period of time or for a specific task who is engaged for that period/task and is rostered to work ordinary hours prescribed by this award.

10.3 Probation period

10.3.1 New employees (other than casuals) may be subject to a probationary period that shall be up to a maximum of three months duration. During this period, an employee will be assessed as to suitability for a permanent position. Probation periods will be determined in advance and discussed with candidates before commencement of employment.

10.3.2 The employment of any person (other than a casual) employed on a probationary period may be terminated by the provision of two days notice during the first four weeks employment by either side at any time or by the payment, or forfeiture as the case may be, of the equivalent ordinary time wages for the required period of notice.
