27B.1 Paid leave entitlement
An employee is entitled to three days paid bereavement leave on the death of either a member of the employee’s immediate family or household. Proof of such bereavement shall be furnished by the employee to the satisfaction of the employer.
27B.2 Compassionate leave
An employee other than a casual shall be entitled to paid leave on compassionate grounds provided the total leave paid for bereavement and compassionate reasons does not exceed one week in a year. Such compassionate leave is at the discretion of the employer.
27B.3 Definition
“Immediate family” is defined at clause 27.2. For the purposes of this clause, the term “immediate family members” shall include a parent who is a step-parent or foster parent of the employee.
27B.4 Unpaid leave
An employee may take unpaid bereavement leave by agreement with the employer.
