4.1 Act means the Workplace Relations Act 1996
4.2 Commission means the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
4.3 Vehicle shall mean any vehicle used in or in connection with the collection, and/or transportation and/or handling and/or disposal of waste.
4.4 Employee shall mean an employee who is required to perform any work covered by this award.
4.5 Employer shall mean an employer who is bound by this award.
4.6 General attendant means an employee performing work in or in connection with:
4.7 Gross vehicle weight on mass shall mean the gross weight or mass of the vehicle and its load as specified by the manufacturer and in accordance with licensing or registration authorities under State or Commonwealth Acts.
4.8 Articulated vehicle shall mean a vehicle with three or more axles, comprising a power unit (called a Prime Mover etc.) and a semi-trailer which is superimposed on a power unit and coupled together by means of a king pin and revolving on a turntable and is articulated whether automatically detachable or permanently coupled.
4.9 Employee handling money shall mean an employee who collects, handles or pays out money.
4.10 Leading hand shall mean an employee in charge of other employees.
4.11 Cleaner and/or greaser shall mean an employee who carries out the cleaning, greasing and oiling of vehicles, steam cleaning, tyre changing and reports obvious defects observed in the course of his/her duties and drives vehicles within the confines of the yard as required.
4.12 Waste collection and/or treatment and/or handling and/or disposal facility attendant means an employee:
4.13 Waste treatment and/or handling and/or disposal facility operator means an employee performing work at such facility in or in connection with the operation of machinery or plant excluding machinery or plant elsewhere mentioned in these classifications.
4.14 Driver/Operator (S.O.L.O. system) means the driver/operator of a vehicle designed to mechanically empty domestic waste bins by means of an extendible mechanical arm operated from within the cabin capable of performing all pick-up functions from within the cabin (including the driver/operator who has to go out of the cabin to physically handle bins in situations where the mechanical arm cannot be manoeuvred to pick up the bin), and includes the operator of a low entry domestic waste vehicle with side mounted hydraulic hoist where the driver operates from the left hand side of the cabin and vehicle.
