6.1 Afternoon shift means a shift commencing after 12.00 noon and before 6.00 p.m. and finishing after 6.00 p.m.
6.2 Cook employed alone means an employee who is employed when no other cook is employed during their shift.
6.3 Full-time employee means an employee engaged to work an average of 38 ordinary hours per week.
6.4 Night shift means a shift commencing at or after 6.00 p.m. and before 4.00 a.m.
6.5 On call employee means an employee engaged only to be on call and who does not work ordinary hours. Such an employee is not entitled to any wage or entitlement accruing in respect of ordinary hours or time worked and is not entitled to a location allowance.
6.6 Other cook means an employee who assists in the cooking and preparing of meals.
6.7 Qualified cook means an employee who has completed and can produce appropriate documentary evidence to their employer to the effect that they have successfully completed an apprenticeship in cooking at an approved or recognised school or college, or who has passed an appropriate trade test in cooking at a recognised school or college.
6.8 Supervisor means an employee who is in overall charge of the day to day running of the hostel and whose duties include the overseeing of the daily activities of residents.

6.9 Union means Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union.
