24.1 Where the employee is provided with accommodation by the employer, the following charges, or deductions, as the case may be, may be made:
Shared room with communal toilet, laundry and sitting room facilities |
$12.90 per week |
Single room with communal toilet, laundry and sitting room facilities |
$25.60 per week |
Single room - self contained within facility grounds |
$42.10 per week |
24.2 An employee in receipt of the call allowance prescribed in clause 20 - Call allowance shall not be charged for lodging unless the hostel is the employee’s principal place of residence.
24.3 Notwithstanding the charges in 24.1, employers may charge higher rates for the accommodation described provided that:
24.3.1 any increase above the rate prescribed is not greater than 20% of the increase in wages that the affected employee received or will receive as a result of increases in the call allowance rate between November 1996 and May 1999; and
24.3.2 any increase is reasonable having regard to the nature of the accommodation provided.
