31.1 The employer may stand down any employee for any day or portion of a day upon which the employee cannot be usefully employed because of any:
31.1.1 strike affecting the employer, whether by the Union or not;
31.1.2 breakdown of the employer’s machinery;
31.1.3 stoppage of work by any cause which the employer cannot reasonably prevent.
31.2 The employee shall not be paid for any time during which they are stood down under this clause.
