30.1 Employees, provided their services are not required, shall be entitled to the following public holidays without deduction of pay - New Year’s Day, Australia Day, Union Picnic Day in respect of employees who are members of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Labour Day, Queen’s Birthday, Melbourne Show Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but if any other day be by Act of Parliament or Proclamation substituted for any of the abovenamed holidays this provision shall apply only to the day so substituted. Provided that in Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong the local Cup Day shall be substituted for Melbourne Cup Day and the local Show Day or Picnic Day shall be substituted for Melbourne Show Day.
30.2 Where in the event of a visit to Australia by a member of the British Royal Family, a public holiday is proclaimed by Order in Council or otherwise gazetted by the authority of the State Government under any State Act then that day will be deemed to be a holiday for the purpose of this award.
