PN2
THE COMMISSIONER: In South Australia?
PN3
MR L WALLGREN: If it pleases, HENRY WALLGREN representing Business SA.
PN4
THE COMMISSIONER: Thanks Mr Wallgren, and please remain seated during any address. Yes?
PN5
MR LESZCZYNSKI: Commissioner, on 10 March the FSU filed a submission with Fair Work Australia in support of our section 158 application to vary the modern Banking, Finance and Insurance Award 2010, to insert the National Training Wage Schedule. Essentially the FSU relies on that submission. I’m assuming Commissioner you don’t particularly want me to go through and read that submission?
PN6
THE COMMISSIONER: No thank you, I’ve read it.
PN7
MR LESZCZYNSKI: The only thing I would add to that is that we have indicated obviously that in terms of training packages there’s the Financial Services training packages, but we would also like to note that there are actually a couple of other training packages which are relevant to the finance sector, specifically the Information and Communication Technology training package which is also in the same level, which is Level A, as the Financial Services one.
PN8
There is the Business Services training package and there’s also the Training training package. So those are also relevant training packages which are dealt with in the finance sector which I suppose would also be of relevance if the National Training Wage Schedule is included.
PN9
THE COMMISSIONER: Yes, none of these packages are named.
PN10
MR LESZCZYNSKI: No.
PN11
THE COMMISSIONER: But would relate to those packages if the schedule was inserted?
PN12
MR LESZCZYNSKI: Yes, Commissioner.
PN13
THE COMMISSIONER: All right.
PN14
MR LESZCZYNSKI: Other than that Commissioner, unless you have any questions for me, as I said we rely upon our submission.
PN15
THE COMMISSIONER: Thank you very much. Mr Wallgren?
PN16
MR WALLGREN: Thank you Commissioner. We support the application by the FSU and might I make a submission in relation to this matter, if I could just add a few points.
PN17
THE COMMISSIONER: Sure.
PN18
MR WALLGREN: We believe that the National Training Wage and package information subject has been (indistinct) 3.05.44 the industry previously and when we analysed (indistinct) industry we came to the conclusion that approximately (indistinct) instruments (indistinct) provided for (indistinct) references to the National Training Wage or otherwise there were no training provisions, so we’re getting into something which has been bothering the industry for quite some time. (indistinct) we agree with the FSUs application and submission. Thank you, Commissioner.
PN19
THE COMMISSIONER: I should also indicate that I have had a submission by Group Training Australia which supports the application and I think those are the only submissions in support, although I haven’t had any submissions against. Very well. This is an application to vary the Banking, Finance and Insurance Award 2010, to insert a new Schedule E, National Training Wage, and a new Appendix E1, Allocation of Traineeships to Wage Levels. The application is made by the Finance Sector Union of Australia and is supported by Group Training Australia and Business South Australia.
PN20
I have examined the application and I am satisfied that the variation should occur to the modern award in that it will achieve what is necessary to achieve the modern award objectives. The variation will apply from today. Thank you for your attendance, the matter is adjourned.
