18. ALLOWANCES

18.1 Confectionery shop, snack and/or liquor bar allowance

Where a manager is required to accept responsibility for the management of a confectionery counter, snack bar or licensed liquor bar, including the ordering of supplies, supervision of staff and checking and banking of takings, an allowance of not less than $25.12 per week will be paid.

18.2 Checking and banking allowance

Where a manager is responsible only for checking and banking takings, or duties of a minor nature in respect to a confectionery counter, snack bar or licensed liquor bar, an allowance of not less than $10.83 per week will be paid.

18.3 Liquor licence allowance

Where a manager, or other person covered by the Award, is appointed and holder of any liquor license, and accepts responsibilities as such under the relevant Liquor Act, an allowance of not less than $18.73 per week will be paid.

18.4 Clothing and footwear allowance

18.4.1 Where an employer requires the employee to provide dinner dress the following allowance will be paid to cover the cost of replacement, maintenance, repair, cleaning and laundry:

18.4.1(a) $1.54 per night where the dinner dress is required to be worn for one or two nights in the week; or

18.4.1(b) $7.53 per week where the dinner dress is required to be worn on three or more nights in the week.

18.4.2 Employees employed at drive-in theatres will be paid by the employer the sum of $5.56 per week as a clothing (including footwear) allowance, and when required to perform duties in the open in adverse weather will be supplied with ankle gumboots.

18.4.3(a) An employee will be reimbursed the cost of full evening dress suit, white coat or other prescribed wear required by the employer to be worn. Provided that such reimbursement will not be payable where the employer provides the full evening dress suite, white coat or other prescribed wear.

18.4.3(b) An employee will be reimbursed the cost of dry cleaning and laundering of full evening dress suit, white coat or other prescribed wear. Provided that such reimbursement will not be payable where the employer dry cleans and launders the full evening dress suit, white coat or other prescribed wear.

18.4.4 Clothing and footwear allowances do not apply to employees while on sick leave, annual leave or long service leave or approved leave without pay or approved leave taken in advance.

18.5 Transport allowance

18.5.1 A manager, assistant manager, or trainee manager employed in a theatre who uses his/her own motor vehicle in the performance of his/her duties will be paid 64 cents per kilometre for the actual distance travelled by the vehicle on any business of the employer, including in all such instances the distances travelled to and from the place where the vehicle is usually housed.

18.5.2 A manager of a drive-in theatre who uses his/her motor vehicle will be paid an amount of 64 cents per kilometre per day for a total equal to three times the distance from the place where the vehicle is usually housed and the theatre for each day he/she attends the theatre.

18.5.3 A manager who manages more than one theatre will be paid any expenses incurred in travelling to and from one theatre to the other or in the event that the manager uses his/her own vehicle for the purposes of so travelling from one theatre to the other he/she will be paid at the rate of 64 cents per kilometre for the distance travelled.

18.6 Removal allowance

Where an employee is appointed or transferred to a theatre and the employer requires the employee to reside in a particular suburb, town or State, then the cost of removal necessarily incurred will be paid to the employee by the employer.

18.7 Working away from usual place of work

18.7.1 All out-of-pocket expenses incurred in connection with the employer’s business authorised by the employer and properly paid by the employee will be reimbursed by the employer.

18.7.2 An employee engaged by the week who, while travelling away from home on duty, is required to provide his/her own board and lodging will be paid travelling allowance of $78.43 per day to a maximum of $392.18 per week.

18.7.3 Where an employee is detained at work until it is too late travel home by the last bus, train, tram or other public transport, the employee will be entitled t reimbursement of the reasonable cost of taxi fares to her or his home. Provided that an employee who is paid a transport allowance will not receive any reimbursement of taxi fare.

18.8 Zone managers - additional allowances

A zone manager will in addition to the ordinary wage, be paid the following allowance for each additional theatre supervised:

18.9 Tropical allowances

18.9.1 Employees covered by this Award in the State of Queensland will be paid special allowances in the areas hereafter prescribed as follows:

18.9.2 Mackay, Northern and Western Allowances

All employees covered by this Award employed in the Mackay, Northern Districts and Western Districts will receive in addition to the weekly wage provided by this Award, the following:

18.9.2(a) Southern division - Western District $1.10

18.9.2(b) Northern division - Eastern district $1.10

18.9.2(c) Northern division - Western district $3.40

18.9.2(d) Mackay division - Mackay district $0.95

18.9.3 Divisions and districts

18.9.3(a) For the purpose of this subclause the divisions and districts will be as follows:

18.9.4 Divisions

18.9.4(a) Northern division: That portion of the State of Queensland along or north of a line commencing at the junction of the sea-coast with the 21st parallel of south latitude; thence by that parallel of latitude due west to 147 degrees of east longitude; thence by that parallel of longitude due south to 22 degrees 30 minutes of south latitude; thence by that parallel of latitude due west to the western border of the State.

18.9.4(b) Mackay division: That portion of the State within the following boundaries: Commencing at the junction of the sea-coast with the 21st parallel of south latitude; thence by that parallel of latitude due west to 147 degrees of east longitude; by that parallel of longitude due south of 22 degrees of south latitude; thence by that parallel of latitude due east to the sea-coast; thence by the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

18.9.4(c) Southern division: That portion of the State not included in the Northern or Mackay divisions.

18.9.5 Districts

18.9.6 Southern Division

18.9.6(a) Eastern district: That portion of the Southern division along or east of a line commencing at the junction of the Southern border of the State with 150 degrees of east longitude; thence by that parallel of longitude north to 25 degrees of south latitude; thence by that parallel of latitude due west to 147 degrees of east longitude; thence by that parallel of longitude due north to the southern boundary of the Mackay Division.

18.9.6(b) Western district: The remainder of the Southern division.

18.9.7 Northern Division

18.9.7(a) Eastern district: That portion of the Northern division along or east of 144 degrees 30 minutes of east longitude.

18.9.7(b) Western district: The remainder of the Northern division.
