21. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

(1) An employee (including a casual) is entitled to paid bereavement leave of up to 2 days per year, on the death of:

(a) the spouse or de facto partner of an employee;

(b) the child or step-child of an employee;

(c) the parent or step-parent of an employee; or

(d) any other person who, immediately before that person’s death, lived with the employee as a member of the employee’s family.

(2) The 2 days per year need not to be consecutive.

(3) Bereavement leave is not to be taken during a period of any other kind of leave prescribed within this award.

(4) An employee who claims to be entitled to paid leave is to provide to the employer, if so requested by the employer, evidence that would satisfy a reasonable person as to the death that is subject of the leave sought and the relationship of the employee to the deceased person.
