PART 9 - TRAINING AND RELATED MATTERS

34. TRAINING AND TRAINING COURSES

34.1 General

The grading structure for engineering and maintenance classifications (unlicensed) contained in this award is based on progression through the grades by the acquisition of new skills and the ability and preparedness to work flexibly. The acquisition of these skills will be achieved either by successful completion of a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) course or by in-house company training. In each case, the training is expected to require no more than 100 hours instruction.

34.2 TAFE courses

The Company will publish, with the agreement of the Training Subcommittee, a list of TAFE courses for the purpose of progression through the grades that are recognised as:

34.2.1 The successful completion of part of some TAFE courses may be deemed to be the equivalent to a course for this purpose.

34.2.2 The Training Subcommittee will ensure that such courses or part of courses are of approximately equal value in terms of skill acquisition.

34.2.3 The successful completion of the following courses, combination of courses, or parts of courses conducted by TAFE constitute skill enhancement and/or multi-skilling courses:
