In this award, unless inconsistent with the content or subject matter:
5.1 Association of employers means Adult and Community Education (Victoria) Incorporated [ACE (Vic) Inc].
5.2 Casual employee means a person who is engaged and paid by the hour.
5.3 Chairperson means the person exercising executive authority in a Committee of Management.
5.4 Committee means the Committee of Management of an organisation providing adult or further education.
5.5 Employer means an organisation listed in Schedule 1 of this award.
5.6 Fixed-term employee means a person who is employed either on a full-time or part-time basis pursuant to a written fixed- term which specifies the date the person is to commence work and the date on which employment ceases.
5.7 Full-time employee means a person who is employed to work the maximum ordinary hours of duty allowed by this award.
5.8 Ongoing employee means a person who is employed on an ongoing basis to work a stipulated number of ordinary hours per week.
5.9 Ordinary rate per hour means the hourly rate payable to an employee by applying the formula:

5.10 Overtime means time authorised to be worked by an employee in excess of or outside of the ordinary hours of duty of the employee.
5.11 Part-time employee means an employee, other than a casual employee, who works less than the maximum ordinary hours prescribed by this award.
5.12 Union means the National Tertiary Education Industry Union (NTEIU).
