31.1 Leave of absence up to three days on full pay may be granted to any employee on account of the death or serious illness of the employee’s spouse, child, parent, legal guardian, grand parent, brother or sister or the same relation or legal guardian of the employee’s spouse or in any other case where, in the opinion of the chair person, special circumstances exist.
31.2 Additional leave may be granted by the Chairperson if he/she is satisfied in any particular case that the leave authorised pursuant to clause 31.1 is inadequate.
31.3 For the purposes of implementing clause 31, “Spouse” means the partner of the employee in a legal or defacto marriage. Proof of a defacto marriage can be established, if requested, on the provision of reasonable evidence (eg: a statutory declaration) that the employee and partner are normally accommodated as a family unit.
