30.1 An employee who submits satisfactory evidence of being an approved applicant for the adoption of a child and of the date of placement of that child is entitled where he/she is the primary care giver:
30.1.1 following 12 months or more continuous service, to leave on full pay for a continuous period of 6 weeks commencing from the date of placement, and to such leave without pay as will bring the aggregate leave to a continuous period not exceeding 52 weeks, or
30.1.2 with less than 12 months continuous service, to unpaid leave for a continuous period of up to 52 weeks.
30.2 An employee who submits satisfactory evidence of being an approved applicant for the adoption of a child and who is not the primary care giver is entitled to:
30.2.1 following 12 months or more continuous service with the employer, leave on full pay for 5 consecutive working days or for a period which in aggregate does not exceed 5 working days; or
30.2.2 with less than 12 months continuous service with the employer, unpaid leave for 5 consecutive working days or for a period which in aggregate does not exceed 5 working days.
30.2.2(a) Such leave must be taken within the period commencing in the week prior to the expected date of placement of the child and concluding 6 weeks after the placement of the child.
30.3 Any leave of absence taken pursuant to clause 30 must not be considered as a break in service for any purpose.
