An employee who is directed by the employer to perform work of a higher grade than that in which the employee is normally engaged shall, provided the employee is capable of performing technical service on that higher grade equipment, be paid at the rate which would be applicable if such work was performed on a permanent basis. This clause shall not apply where the employee being relieved is absent on annual leave or personal leave until the absence has exceeded one week at which time the employee shall be paid for that week and any additional days.
