18.1 Definition: For the purposes of this clause the term ‘usual place of work’ shall mean:
18.1.1 for employees who are required ordinarily to work day by day at the same fixed place of work- the place so fixed by CSIRO; and
18.1.2 for employees whose place of work is variable within a specified district- a place within that district fixed by CSIRO.
18.2 Employees not entitled to excess travelling time: An employee in receipt of a salary which exceeds $29 390 per annum shall not be entitled to payment for excess travelling time. The maximum hourly rate shall be ascertained by regarding the salary received as $28 483 per annum.
18.3 Payment: Payment will be made for time necessarily spent in travelling, exclusive of overtime duty, in excess of:
18.3.1 the employee’s ordinary hours of attendance for the day; and
18.3.2 the time necessarily spent travelling to and from the employee’s usual place of residence and the employee’s usual place of work;
provided that in the case of employees specified in 18.1.2, a minimum time of 20 minutes each way shall apply.
18.4 Rate of payment: Payment will be made at the following rates:
18.4.1 ordinary rates of pay on Mondays to Saturdays; and
18.4.2 time and a half rates on Sundays and public holidays
18.5 Minimum & maximum periods: Payment shall not be made unless the excess time exceeds:
18.5.1 one half hour in any one day; or
18.5.2 two and one half hours in any fortnightly pay period, in the case of an employee whose ordinary hours of attendance are confined to 5 days of the week; or
18.5.3 3 hours in any fortnightly pay period, in the case of an employee who performs rostered ordinary duty on 6 days of the week;
nor shall payment be made for more than 5 hours in any one day.
