19.1 Employees not entitled to payment: The provisions of this clause shall not apply to employees whose hours of attendance cannot be definitely determined, such as employees whose duties comprise caretaking work, or to such other special categories of employees as may be determined by CSIRO.
19.2 Penalty rate for shift duty: The following shift duty payments apply to an employee who is rostered to perform and performs ordinary duty in the following circumstances:

Payment shall be calculated to the nearest quarter of an hour of the total amount to be claimed in each fortnightly period.
19.3 Shift penalty not counted for overtime, etc calculations: The additional payment prescribed in this clause shall not be taken into account in the calculation of overtime or in the determination of any allowance based upon salary, nor shall it be made with respect to any shift for which any other form of penalty payment is made.
19.4 Overtime on Saturdays: Where an employee to whom this sub-clause applies performs overtime duty on a Saturday, the employee shall be paid an additional 100 per cent of ordinary rates of pay, provided that:
in the case of a Saturday overtime attendance not continuous with ordinary duty, the payment so resulting shall be subject to the minimum overtime payment provisions of 17.9.
19.5 Payments when on recreation leave: Additional payment for ordinary duty prescribed in this clause will be made in respect of any such duty which an employee would have performed had the employee not been on recreation leave, provided that leave loading shall not apply to shift penalties.
19.6 Enhanced responsibilities allowance: An allowance paid to an employee in accordance with 14.1 shall be regarded as salary for the purpose of calculating shift duty payments.
19.7 Rostered duty on a holiday: Where, in a cycle of shifts on a regular roster, an employee is required to perform rostered duty on each of the days of the week the employee shall, in respect of a holiday which occurs on a day on which the employee is rostered off duty, be granted, if practicable, within one month after the holiday, a day’s leave in lieu of that holiday. If it is not practicable to grant such a day’s leave, the employee shall be paid for one day at the ordinary rate of pay in lieu of time off duty.
