24. ALLOWANCES AND SPECIAL PAYMENTS
24.1 Industry Allowance
24.1.1 An employee (including a Junior) of a classification specified in clause 4.2.6 of this award, whose work in connection with the production, distribution or supply of liquefied petroleum gas or by-products, is of such a nature and/or whose work place is so located that they are:
24.1.1(a) exposed to gas, fumes, dust or heat and the lack of usual amenities associated with factory work and/or
24.1.1(b) required to work in the open, or in open buildings and/or is exposed to dust blowing in the wind, wet and muddy conditions, climbing stairs or ladders, working on all types of scaffolding, working in trenches, working in confined spaces, or

24.1.1(c) required to perform work and/or work in such conditions related to the LP Gas Industry not covered by 24.1.1(a) and 24.1.1(b) above will be paid at the rate of $34.79 per week in addition to their ordinary weekly rate of wage and such allowance will be deemed to be part of an employees' ordinary rate of pay for all purposes of this award.
24.2 Multi-Skill Allowance

A multi-skill allowance shall paid to any employee who utilises additional skills and/or performs additional functions to those required at the base level of his/her classification in accordance with the following:

24.3 Leading Hand Allowance

24.3.1 Employees in charge of up to 5 employees shall be paid $4.96 per day extra.
24.3.2 Employees in charge of 6 to 9 employees shall be paid $6.65 per day extra.
24.3.3 Employees in charge of 10 or more employees shall be paid $9.11 per day extra
24.4 Meal allowance

24.4.1 An employee required to work overtime for more than two hours immediately after the usual finishing time, otherwise than because of their own default or delay, will be paid a meal allowance of $13.98.

24.4.2 Notwithstanding subclause 6.3(a) and 5.5.5(a) hereof, after each 4 hours overtime worked continuously, an employee will be entitled to a subsequent meal allowance of $13.98 in respect of the first such 4 hours and $13.98 in respect of the second such 4 hours overtime worked provided that he/she continues working after the qualifying period.

24.4.3 A meal allowance of $13.98 will be paid to an employee who is called in on any day earlier than two hours before the time when (notwithstanding that in the case of a day worker such time is outside the spread of ordinary hours specified in clause 6.1 of this award or in the case of a shift worker such time is earlier than the commencement of their ordinary shift hours) he/she would have commenced work on that day had he/she not been so called in, and who thereby misses a meal which otherwise would have been taken at home. Provided that this payment will not apply in respect of changes to regular starting times for which at least seven days notice has been given.
24.4.4 Allowances under this clause shall not apply:
24.4.4(a) When the employer provides a suitable meal as an alternative to payment of the relevant allowance; and
24.4.4(b) When an employee receives expenses covering such meals under clause 5.5.4 of this award.
24.5 Standby allowance

24.5.1 An employee required by the employer to hold himself in readiness to work after ordinary hours will be paid a standby allowance as follows:
24.5.1(a) Monday to Friday inclusive $12.20 per day
24.5.1(b) Saturday $26.91 per day
24.5.1(c) Sunday and Public Holiday $37.33 per day
24.5.2 If an employee is actually required to leave home to attend for work he/she will be entitled to be paid for the period of the call-out at the appropriate overtime rate with a minimum payment for three hours. If an employee is called out on more than one occasion within the three hour minimum period, no additional payment will be made in respect of a subsequent call-out provided that the employee is back at home within the three hour minimum period.
24.6 Travelling allowance and transport
24.6.1 Where an employer permanently transfers an employee from their usual place of employment to another place of employment the employer will pay all additional fares and expenses reasonably incurred in going to and from the other place of employment for a period of thirteen weeks.
24.6.2 When an employee is transferred temporarily to work at a place which requires them to travel daily a greater distance from home than the distance to their usual place of employment, he/she will be paid any additional fares and additional travelling time so incurred.

24.6.3 When an employee, after having worked overtime or a shift for which he/she has not been regularly rostered, finishes work at a time when their normal means of transport or reasonable means of public transport are not readily available, the employer will pay the employee an allowance of $8.75 for each such overtime or shift. However, this allowance will not be paid if the employer provides a conveyance to such public transport as is available or to their home, or pays the employee at their ordinary rate for the time reasonably occupied in reaching their home.

24.6.4 When an employee, not having been notified before leaving the employer's business premises, is called in before his/her usual commencing time to work overtime, or a shift, for which he/she has not been regularly rostered and at a time when their normal means of transport or reasonable means of transport are not available, the employer will pay the employee an allowance of $8.75 for each such call in. However, this allowance will not be paid if the employer provides a conveyance to the employee’s place of work or pay them at their ordinary rate for the time reasonably occupied in reaching the place of work.
24.7 Tool Allowance

24.7.1 Tradespersons included in clause 5.1 of this award, will be paid an allowance of $18.24 per week for supplying and maintaining tools ordinarily required in the performance of their work as a tradesperson. This allowance will be deemed to be part of an employee's ordinary rate of pay for all purposes of the award, but will not be taken into account for the calculation of payments outside of ordinary time.
24.7.2 Where it is the practice for the employer to provide all necessary tools ordinarily required by tradespersons in the performance of their work, and for tradespersons to replace or pay for any tools supplied that are lost through negligence, the employer may continue that practice and in that event the allowance prescribed in subclause 5.5.8(a) will not apply to such tradespersons.
24.8 First Aid Allowance

An employee who holds an accredited certificate in first aid, and is appointed by the employer to give first aid during emergencies, will be paid an additional $20.83 per week in addition to the employee’s ordinary wage.
24.8 Educational Fees
All related educational fees will be reimbursed by the employer to the employee upon successful completion of any course or any stage or semester thereof approved by the employer. If the employee is required to attend an examination during normal working hours the employee may do so without loss of pay.
24.9 Telephone Account

An employee required by the employer to be on call will have their telephone rental, and $15.42 minimum payment for local calls per quarterly account, paid by the employer, but trunk calls and other service charges will be paid by the employee unless evidence is established that they were incurred on behalf of the employer.
24.10 Mixed Functions
An employee engaged for four or more hours during one day or shift on duties carrying a higher rate than their ordinary classification will be paid the higher rate for such day or shift, provided that this provision will not apply where an employee is temporarily relieving another employee.
24.11 Driving Licence
24.11.1 Where an employee is substantially required to drive as part or all of their duties the employer will pay the cost of such licence.
24.11.2 If an employer requires an employee to obtain an upgraded licence, the cost of procuring such licence will be borne by the employer.
24.12 Licences and Registrations
Where an employee is required to hold a licence or to be registered to carry out their duties with the employer they will be reimbursed the cost of obtaining such licence and of maintaining such licence current.
24.13 Gear and Equipment
Where the employer does not provide all necessary gear and equipment, the employer will reimburse the employee for the cost of any such gear and equipment that is provided by the employee.
24.14 Uniforms
Where an employer requires the employee to purchase a uniform, the employer will reimburse the employee the cost of the uniform.
24.15 Living Away From Home Allowance

Employees whose work necessitates their absence from home overnight will be paid an allowance of $13.99 per day and will be reimbursed reasonable meals and accommodation expenses.
