29. DISTANT WORK
29.1 (Except in South Australia)
Where an employee is required in the course of employment to be absent overnight, the employer shall arrange and pay for accommodation, meals and all out-of-pocket expenses (including travel expenses) reasonably incurred by such employee.
29.2.1 An employee engaged on a job where the employee is required to remain away from the usual place of abode and reside elsewhere than on the site (or adjacent to the site and provided with transport) shall be paid the appropriate fares and travelling allowance defined in 30.2.1(a), (b) or (c) of this award. Whilst residing on or adjacent to the site, the employee shall be entitled to the fares and travelling allowance prescribed in 30.2.1(d) of this award.
29.2.2 In addition, an employee shall be paid expenses (as defined) whilst so absent from the usual locality. Expenses for the purposes of the clause shall mean:
29.2.2(a) All fares reasonably incurred
29.2.2(b) (*) for each meal taken when travelling.
29.2.2(c) A reasonable allowance to cover the cost incurred for full board and lodgings.
29.2.2(d) An employee required to remain away from the usual place of abode, shall be paid a living away from home allowance at the rate of (*) per day, excluding such period of travelling incurred under 29.2 hereof. The foregoing allowance shall not apply where a site loading or area allowance makes provision for such a component.
29.2.2(e) An employer shall not, for the purpose of this clause, have more than one registered office or depot within a 50 km radius, as defined in subclause 4.2.5 of this award.
