SCHEDULE B - POULTRY FARM EMPLOYEES IN VICTORIA

1. APPLICATION
1.1 This schedule shall come into operation in the State of Victoria on the commencement of a common rule declaration in respect of this award.
1.2 This schedule shall only operate in the State of Victoria.
1.3 This schedule applies to employees of employers engaged in poultry farming in the State of Victoria.
1.4 Except for Part II of the Pastoral Industry Award 1998 the Award as varied from time to time shall apply subject to this schedule.
1.5 The terms of this schedule will prevail over the terms of the Pastoral Industry Award 1998 to the extent of any inconsistency.
2. CLASSIFICATION DEFINITIONS
2.1 Stock hand means an employee other than a hatchery employee or an employee engaged in pick up work, who for a period of six months has been and is substantially engaged in actually handling livestock. A Stock hand will also undertake any task undertaken by a Farm hand. A Stock hand may also operate a front-end loader as part of the general duties.
2.2 Farm hand means an employee who cares for sheds and litter, maintains egg records, culls flocks of poultry as required, removes waste product, drives and or operates farm plant and equipment and will include an employee engaged in pick-up work and associated general duties as a Farm hand.
2.3 General hand means employees employed under the terms of this Schedule in general tasks not specifically covered in any of the above classifications including egg collection and grading, and all employees in the first 160 hours of adult employment whilst undertaking training for any other task.
3. WAGE RATES

3.1.2 The employer may direct an employee to carry out such duties as are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
3.1.3 The employer may direct an employee to carry out such duties and use such tools and equipment as may be required provided that the employee has been properly trained in the use of such tools and equipment.
4. ALLOWANCES
4.1 Leading hands

If an employee is authorised to take charge of other employees and is required to set out work or see that work is carried out, he/she will be regarded as a Leading hand and will be paid:

4.2 Protective clothing allowance
Where the employer requires an employee to wear any protective clothing such as rubber boots, aprons, and any other articles of clothing. The employer must reimburse the employee for the cost of purchasing such protective clothing. The provisions of this clause do not apply where the protective clothing is paid for by the employer.
4.3 First aid allowance

Any employee appointed by the employer to perform first aid duties will be paid 83 cents per day in addition to his/her ordinary rate.
4.4 Overtime meal allowance

An employee required to work overtime for more than one and a half hours, without being notified on the previous day, will be reimbursed for the cost of a meal or paid $9.75. If required to work in excess of four hours overtime, the employee will be reimbursed the cost of a further meal or paid the sum of $9.75.
