17.1 All employees
17.1.1 Protective clothing and safety equipment
17.1.1(a) Where an employer requires an employee to wear protective clothing or a uniform the employer must reimburse the employee for the cost of purchasing such protective clothing or uniform.
17.1.1(b) Where it is necessary to repair or replace such protective clothing or uniform, the employer must reimburse the employee for the cost of repairing or replacing such protective clothing.
17.1.1(c) The provisions of this subclause do not apply where the protective clothing or uniform is paid for by the employer or replaced or repaired without cost to the employee.
17.1.1(d) Where protective clothing and uniforms are supplied by the employer they will remain the property of the employer.
17.2 Victoria
The following allowances apply only in the state of Victoria:
17.2.1 Meal allowance

17.2.1(a) An employee is entitled to be paid a meal allowance of $8.44 in the following circumstances:

17.2.1(b) An employee is also entitled to be paid a further meal allowance of $6.73, in the following circumstances:
17.2.1(c) The provisions of this subclause do not apply where the employer provides the employee with a meal.
17.2.2 On-call allowance
17.2.2(a) An employee who is required to spend any part of a 24 hour period on-call will be entitled to the following allowances:

17.2.2(a)(i) an allowance of $13.18 in respect to any 24 hour period or part thereof between the time of finishing ordinary duty on Monday and the termination of ordinary duty on Friday; or

17.2.2(a)(ii) an allowance of $26.41 in respect to any other 24 hour period or part thereof or any public holiday.
17.2.2(b) On-call means available to be recalled for duty.
17.2.3 Telephone allowance
Where an employer requires an employee to install and/or maintain a telephone for the purpose of being placed on-call by the employer, the employer will refund the installation costs and the subsequent regular rental charges on production of receipted accounts.
17.3 New South Wales
The following allowance applies only in the state of New South Wales:
17.3.1 First aid allowance

An employee who holds a current first aid certificate issued by the St. John’s Ambulance Association or Australian Red Cross Society or equivalent qualification, and who is required by his or her employer to perform first aid duty at his or her workplace, will be paid an allowance of $8.13 per week or $1.63 per day with a minimum payment of one day.
