23. PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

23.1 All employees shall be entitled to the following holidays without deduction from their weekly pay: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Australia Day, Eight Hours Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Easter Tuesday, Anzac Day, Queen's Birthday, Launceston Cup Day (from 11.00 a.m.) Launceston Show Day, the first Monday in November, or such other day as may be observed in the locality in lieu of any of the aforementioned holidays.

23.1.1 Provided that, where an additional public holiday or bank holiday is proclaimed by order in council or otherwise gazetted by authority of the Commonwealth or the State Government under any Act throughout the State or part thereof, such day shall, within the defined locality, be deemed to be a holiday for the purposes of this award; provided further that an employee shall not be entitled to the benefit of more than one holiday upon such occasion.

23.2 Rostered days off will be arranged so as not to coincide with public holidays. In the event that a public holiday is prescribed after employees have been given notice of their rostered day off and the public holiday falls on that day, the employer shall allow employees to take the day off at a mutually convenient time.

23.3 Employees who are performing higher duties (refer Clause 9.2) or mixed functions (refer Clause 9.1) shall receive higher duties for the public holiday, only if the said public holiday falls within the period of higher duties.
