10. HIGHER DUTIES ALLOWANCE
10.1 Where the University appoints an employee to temporarily act in a position of a higher classification the employee will be paid a higher duties allowance equivalent to the difference between the employee’s normal salary and the minimum salary of the higher classification.
10.2 Where a position is vacant as a result of the incumbent’s absence of more than four weeks, the employee will be paid a higher duties allowance for the period of the acting appointment.
10.3 Where a position has become permanently vacant as a result of the incumbent terminating the position, an employee appointed to act in the position will be paid a higher duties allowance for the period of the acting appointment up to a period of thirteen weeks at which time the position will be reviewed, and permanently filled if it is determined that it will be continuing.
