17.1 Where an employee has exhausted entitlements to paid leave, the University may grant further periods of paid or unpaid leave for any purpose for which leave is available under this award.
17.2 Paid leave in excess of 3 days may be deducted from the employees next annual leave entitlements.
17.3 When special leave without pay is granted, the following conditions shall apply:
17.3.1 For a period in excess of ten working days, none of the period shall be recognised as service for the purpose of calculating entitlements to long service leave, recreation leave and sick leave;
17.3.2 For a period of leave of up to one month, the employee’s increment date shall not be changed. For a period of leave in excess of one month, the employee’s increment date shall be adjusted by a period equal to the period of such leave:
17.3.4 Public holidays, which fall during the period of leave, will form part of the leave. Such leave shall not be granted in broken periods separated by public or University holidays or by public or University holidays or by periods of long service leave or recreation leave.
