SCHEDULE 1

ALLOWANCE

APPLICATION

RATE

1. Relocation Allowance

(a) Where an appointee is required to relocate to take up an appointment with the University.

 
     
 

(i) Travel

(i) An amount equivalent to an economy class airfare for appointee and family

     
 

(ii) Transport of effects
Packing, transport and transport insurance of furniture and household effects, for a maximum of 10 cubic metres.

(ii) An amount equivalent to the actual costs, which have been approved in advance

     
 

(iii) Settling - in
Abnormal expenses incurred by the new appointee as approved.

  • single person $300
  • husband and wife $480
  • family including one child $600
  • family including two or more children $720

2 Travelling allowance

Academic staff at levels D and E

(a) Where an employee academic is required to be absent overnight from their normal place of work for a period of up to 42 days.

 
     
 

(i) Accommodation in a hotel, motel or registered lodging house in a capital city

(i) $112.80 per day or, for any part of a day up to 12 hours, $9.40 per hour.

     
 

(ii) Accommodation in a hotel, motel or registered lodging house in places other than Capital cities

(ii) $79.20 per day or, for any part of a day up to 12 hours, $6.60 per hour

     
 

(iii) Where accommodation and meals are supplied

    (iii) $7.60 for each overnight stay

     
 

(iv)Where accommodation only is supplied

    (iv) The actual cost of meals purchased as verified by a receipt.

(b) Where an absence from the normal place of work does not include an overnight stay.

  • Breakfast $6.40
  • Lunch $5.50

(c) Accommodation and meals other than provided for by (i) – (iv) above

$33.60 for each 24 hours; or
for any part of a day up to 12 hours- $2.80 per hour

     
 

Academic staff at level s A-C

(a)Where an academic staff member is required to be absent overnight from their normal place of work for a period of up to 42 days.

 
     
 

(i) Accommodation in a hotel, motel or registered lodging house in a capital city

$103.20 per day or, for any part of a day up to 12 hours, $8.60 per hour.

     
 

(ii) Accommodation in a hotel, motel or registered lodging house in places other than Capital cities

    $69.60 per day or, for any part of a day up to 12 hours, $5.80 per hour

     
 

(iii) Where accommodation and meals are supplied

    $7.60 for each overnight stay

     
 

(iv)Where accommodation only is supplied

    The actual cost of meals purchased as verified by a receipt.


The above rates may be reduced where an employee is located in one place for more than 42 days.
