8. PROPORTION OF APPRENTICES

8.1 The number of Apprentice Butchers on probation in any establishment shall not exceed one to two or fraction of two Butchers employed in the same establishment.

8.1.1 In any establishment where three Butchers are employed in the same establishment, and where an Apprentice has completed the third year of service, the appropriate Federal, State or Territory body shall have the power to grant an employer the right to engage an additional Apprentice.

8.1.2 In determining the proportionate relevant number of Apprentices those persons designated by the employer to be Meat Unit Managers shall be included in the calculation.

8.2 The proportionate number of Apprentices Bakers/Pastrycooks who may be employed by the employer shall be at least one to every one operative Bakers employed in such establishment.

8.3 In determining the proportionate relevant number of Apprentices those persons designated by the employer to be Bakehouse Managers shall be included in the calculation.
