27. REST PERIODS

27.1 One paid rest period of ten minutes shall be provided when an employee works four hours or more. An additional paid rest period of ten minutes shall be provided when the employee works seven hours or more.

27.2 The taking of a rest period shall be at a time that does not interfere with the continuity of work where continuity is necessary. If the work period includes a meal break, the rest period is to be granted in that portion of the work period which is greater. Unless mutually agreed, no rest period falling within a work period of three hours or more shall be given or taken within one hour of the employee’s commencing time or ceasing time or within one hour before or after any meal.

27.3 All rest periods shall be deemed as time worked.
