Every employee shall be entitled to a meal break of not less than one half hour nor more than one hour after not more than five hours work, provided that where an employee is rostered to work in excess of eight ordinary hours in any one day, the meal break on that day may be taken after not more than six hours work. Where it is not possible for the employer to grant a meal break on any day, the said meal break shall be treated as time worked and the employee shall be paid at the rate applicable to the employee at the time such meal break is due, plus 50% of the ordinary hourly rate applying to such employee until such time as the employee is released for a meal.
