16.2 Arbitrated safety net adjustment

The rates of pay in this award include the arbitrated safety net adjustment payable under the Safety Net Review—Wages June 2005 decision [PR002005]. This arbitrated safety net adjustment may be offset against any equivalent amount in rates of pay received by employees whose wages and conditions of employment are regulated by this award which are above the wage rates prescribed in the award. Such above-award payments include wages payable pursuant to certified agreements, currently operating enterprise flexibility agreements, Australian workplace agreements, award variations to give effect to enterprise agreements and overaward arrangements. Absorption which is contrary to the terms of an agreement is not required.
16.3 Increases made under previous National Wage Case Principles or under the current Statement of Principles, excepting those resulting from enterprise agreements, are not to be used to offset arbitrated safety net adjustments.
16.4 The job descriptions relating to each of the grades in 16.1 are set out in Appendix A.
16.5 Salaries for junior employees shall be equal to the following percentages of the adult rate for Grade One:

16.6 When an employee is required by direction of the Company to perform duties of a higher graded employee for one day or more at a time, he/she shall be paid the difference between his/her award rate of pay and the minimum award rate for the classification of the higher graded employee in addition to his/her usual rate of pay for all time worked in the higher position. Such additional rate shall operate for all purposes of this award.
