16. HIGHER DUTIES ALLOWANCE (HDA)

16.1 Employees may be called upon to perform temporarily the duties of a position having a higher classification than their own. Employees will be paid an allowance equal to the difference between their current salary and base level of the salary for the higher position or a lesser amount for partial performance.

16.2 In the case of a part-time employee, the allowance payable will be based on the minimum rate of the higher classification.

16.3 Unless otherwise determined, HDA is only payable for positions above Executive Officer 2 level for periods of one week or more and below Executive Officer 2 level for periods of one day or more (noting that if the period is of a continuous duration of more than half a day it will be regarded as one day). The same applies for part-time employees on an hourly proportional basis.

16.4 If an employee would have continued to perform HDA but for proceeding on paid leave (but not inclusive of long service leave), the employee will continue to receive the relevant allowance.
