18.1 When Christmas Day is a Saturday or a Sunday, a holiday in lieu thereof shall be observed on 27 December.
18.2 When Commemoration Day is a Saturday or a Sunday, a holiday in lieu thereof shall be observed on 28 December.
18.3 When New Year’s Day or Australia Day is a Saturday or Sunday, a holiday in lieu thereof shall be observed on the next Monday.
18.4 Notwithstanding 18.1, 18.2, and 18.3 an employee, other than a casual employee, who works on Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, or both, shall be paid at the appropriate holiday rate as provided in the award and if such an employee also works on the substitute day or days, he or she shall be paid at the normal award rate for work on that day or days.
18.5 In addition to the benefit provided by 18.4, an employee who works on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day shall either be allowed a substitute holiday at a time convenient to the employer or receive an extra day’s wages at ordinary rates.
18.6 This clause overrides any other provisions of the award with which it is inconsistent.
